‘What Separates Us’ is the startling debut four-track EP from Sœur.
Aggressive, uncompromising and challenging, ‘What Separates Us’ is the first recorded fruits from a trio already establised - after a string of incendiary live shows - as one of the UK’s most exciting unsigned bands.
Released on the 21st March to coincide with a full UK headline tour, today we share the EP’s opening track ‘Put You On’.
Time-signatures lurch violently as vocal melodies clash and sync in fractured harmony. These are songs written to aggravate and disrupt; the vitriol of provincial youth distilled into 13 short minutes.
"it's big and it's abrasive, and you won't be able to resist hitting repeat again and again...” Best Fit
Speaking of the EP’s title & overarching theme, Anya Pulver says: "Whether it be an internal separation of the mind or the great separations instilled by society, we wanted to show people that ultimately, we create the things that separate us and that they are insignificant and impermanent.”
The ‘What Separates Us’ EP was recorded over 4 days in Bristol, UK, with producer Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Youth Lagoon).
To accompany the EP’s release, Sœur will be heading out on a UK headline tour in late March.
Ahead of that they warm-up with a support show at Bristol’s Thekla on the 8th March supporting Vant.
